Luc Verelst founded Reliable Cancer Therapies in 2009 to provide information on reliable cancer treatments and to fund the development of a number of promising therapies. After graduating as a bioengineer from the Catholic University of Leuven (K.U. Leuven), Belgium in 1976, he founded several construction and real estate companies which grew into an international real estate group (Verelst, Eurinpro and Uplace). Over the years he sold most of the real estate business and moved to Switzerland, his new home. He has remained active as an investor in several high-tech and healthcare companies. In 2000 Luc also created Solid International, a non-profit organization that supports sustainable progress in developing countries by focusing on economic growth and education.
Who we are
RCT brings together highly qualified people from different areas of practice. Through cooperation and knowledge sharing, these people constantly strive to improve the information flow on cancer. RCT is currently in the process of hiring staff and building a network of experts in the field who will support our mission and critically review our assessment reports.

Lydie Meheus, Executive Director
Lydie was appointed Executive Director of Reliable Cancer Therapies (RCT) in March 2009. Lydie holds a PhD in Protein Biochemistry and a Master's in Biology from the University of Ghent where she later held various academic positions. In 1987 Lydie began work as a senior researcher with Innogenetics (Belgium) where she held numerous positions including Head of Protein Biochemistry and Director of Therapeutics R&D, supporting the research and development of immunotherapeutic projects within a multidisciplinary team. When Innogenetics incorporated its therapeutic activities into a new company, GENimmune, in 2007, Lydie became Vice President for R&D. She is responsible for the content of the 'cell-based therapies' section of this website.

Ann-Christine Moenaert, MSc
Ann-Christine joined Reliable Cancer Therapies in October 2009 as a scientist. She coordinates the information on non-conventional cancer therapies and is managing the RCT website. Ann-Christine graduated with a Master's in Biotechnology from the University of Ghent (Belgium) in 2001 and started working at Janssen Pharmaceutica in Beerse, Belgium as a Quality Systems Specialist. She later headed an international team responsible for the creation and implementation of new Quality & Compliance macroprocesses at Janssen Pharmaceutica. Before joining the RCT team, Ann-Christine was the Aseptic Processing Control Manager at Alcon Couvreur in Belgium. She is responsible for the content of 'mind-body interventions', 'synthetic products', 'body-based & manipulative therapies' and, 'other' therapies sections on this website.

Klara Rombauts, MSc
Klara started working for RCT in November 2009 as a scientist responsible for all herb-related activities. She is a qualified Industrial Engineer, specializing in Biochemistry. She was personally trained in pharmacognosy by Professor Dr. Emeritus A.J. Vlietinck (Professor Emeritus of Pharmacognosy, University of Antwerp). Before joining RCT, Klara worked as a medicinal chemist in HIV and HCV research at Tibotec (J&J) for three years. She is responsible for the content of 'natural products' and 'diets' sections of this website.

Gauthier Bouche, MD
Gauthier joined RCT in June 2010 as a medical expert. Gauthier holds an MD which included postgraduate training in Public Health from the University of Poitiers (France) and a Master's in Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Bordeaux 2 (France).
After he completed his training, Gauthier worked from 2007 to 2009 at the university hospital of Poitiers (France). In addition to teaching epidemiology and public health in the medical school, his work within the hospital was dedicated to the improvement of quality of care and to projects in clinical epidemiology.
In 2010, Gauthier moved from France to Belgium and spent 5 months working with the Belgian Cancer Control Program before joining RCT. He is responsible for the content of the "cancers", "guidelines", "registered drugs", "surgical interventions" and "radiotherapy" sections of this website.

Ana Ugarte, MD
Ana joined RCT in October 2010 and is assisting Gauthier Bouche in his medical tasks. Ana is a medical doctor and graduated from the Universidad Mayor de San Simon in Cochabamba, Bolivia in 2005. After working and gaining experience in the clinical field, particularly in rural areas of her homeland, she followed a postgraduate course and obtained the title of Specialist in Tropical Medicine and Health Services Organization at the Universidad Mayor de San Simon in 2008, in order to work later as a researcher at the Institute for Human Development in Cochabamba. In 2009 she moved to Belgium and obtained a further Master's degree (Master compleméntaire) in Public Health Methodology at the Public Health School of the Free University of Brussels in 2010.

Erik Cabuy, PhD
Erik Cabuy joined Reliable Cancer Therapies (RCT) in November 2010 and works in the field of Energy- and Nano-based Medicine and technologies related to cancer therapies.
Erik holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from Brunel University of West London, a Master's degree in Biology from the University of Ghent, a Master's in Engineering from the Industrial Sciences and Technology School, Antwerp, and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
After obtaining his Master’s degree in Engineering in 1988, Erik was employed for 5 years as an Instrument Engineer at Comprimo Engineers & Contractors in Antwerp and in Amsterdam. After receiving his Master's degree in Biology, Erik worked for almost 13 years in academic research and teaching at several universities and institutes in Europe. He worked in diverse fields of science ranging from cancer to telomere to ant and fish biology. In his most recent position, he established a laboratory for Single Cell Genomics at the Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel, Switzerland which was dedicated to analyzing gene expressions of single or small subsets of cells. He is responsible for the content of the 'energy based therapies' section of this website.
